FAQ

The Tiffany method of stained glass was developed to give artists more freedom and detail than traditional stained glass allowed.
Before it, most stained glass used lead came, which is rigid and best suited for large, flat panels with simpler shapes. In the late 1800s, Louis Comfort Tiffany developed the copper-foil (Tiffany) method so artists could use smaller, more intricate pieces of glass, create curves and delicate lines, and build three-dimensional forms—most famously stained glass lampshades. The technique also allowed for richer colors, subtle shading, and more expressive, painterly designs.
In short: it was created to make stained glass more detailed, flexible, and artistic, not just architectural.

Your piece arrives cleaned, waxed, and polished. To maintain its shine, gently wipe the glass with a soft cloth. Avoid abrasive materials or ammonia based cleaners on stained glass, as they can scratch or damage the metal's patina. Please hang on a sturdy hook, suction cups are not recommended.
